Why I Write About More Than Just Gut Health (And Why You Should Care)
Let’s address the probiotic-packed elephant in the room: I talk A LOT about gut health. But then, I also talk about self-care, self-love, stress management, burnout, emotional healing, and why you should absolutely NOT ignore that little voice in your head telling you to take a nap. So what gives?
Am I just a integrative holistic health coach and wellness blogger with commitment issues? Hardly. It’s because your gut is not living in a vacuum. (Unless you’ve swallowed one, in which case, we have bigger problems.) Your gut—and your health—is connected to everything else happening in your life. And if you only focus on one part of your well-being, you’re missing the bigger picture of what true healing looks like.
It’s All Connected: A Lesson From Your Gut
Yes, I can (and do!) write about why you should eat protein, healthy fats, and fiber. I can also tell you why movement is important, how to balance your blood sugar, and why eating a donut while stressed out and running on fumes will not, in fact, bring you lasting joy. But here’s the thing—your gut health is impacted by SO MUCH MORE than just food and exercise.
Stress? Wrecks your gut. Not sleeping? Wrecks your gut. Ignoring your emotions and pretending you’re fine when you’re one awkward email away from a breakdown? Wrecks your gut.
Your digestive system doesn’t just process what you eat—it processes everything you experience. If you’re constantly overwhelmed, burnt out, or stuck in negative self-talk, your body is in a chronic state of stress. And guess what? Stress changes the way your gut functions, leading to bloating, inflammation, sluggish digestion, and that lovely “why do I look six months pregnant after eating a salad?” feeling. (Been there.)
Focusing on the Whole Self = Real Healing
You can drink all the green juice, take the best probiotics, and have the cleanest diet on the planet, but if you’re constantly anxious, overworked, and ignoring your body’s need for rest and emotional processing, you’re not truly healing. Healing isn’t just about what’s on your plate—it’s about your mindset, your boundaries, your stress levels, your relationships, and even how kindly you speak to yourself.
That’s why I write about ALL of it. Because when you focus on the whole self—not just the parts—you heal in ways you never thought possible. You feel lighter, stronger, and more energized. Your digestion improves, your mood lifts, and you start to see that taking care of yourself isn’t just about looking good in jeans—it’s about feeling at home in your body and your life.
So What’s the Takeaway?
Gut health is important. So is what you eat. But so is how you treat yourself, how you manage stress, and how much you prioritize you. If you want to feel better, inside and out, you have to stop compartmentalizing your health and start seeing yourself as a whole, beautiful, interconnected system.
And if that means taking a break, setting boundaries, eating nourishing foods, and yes—reading my blog posts that sometimes sound like a mix of science, self-help, and your best friend giving you a pep talk—then so be it.
Your gut (and your future self) will thank you.
Now, go drink some water and be kind to yourself. You deserve it.
